Membership Classifications
The Woodwork Institute has four membership classifications available to fit the diverse needs among the woodworking industry. Dues are relative to gross annual sales, so even the smallest shops have the means to participate.

Active Membership
Active Membership is available to those individuals and firms primarily engaged in the fabrication, distribution, brokering and/or installation of architectural millwork products within Arizona, California, Nevada and Oregon.
Active Members are entitled to:
- Hold office or serve as Directors, and to vote on matters being considered by the general membership.
- Display the Woodwork Institute logo on company brochures, ads, business cards, etc.
- Receive the benefits of and participate in all current and possible future services of the Woodwork Institute, such as technical field service, comparative operating studies and statistics, information bulletins, meetings, publications, general promotion, and similar activities.
- Receive the Institute's publications, including: Archetype (the Institute's twice-yearly journal), Details (the membership newsletter), The Business Owner, and the annual Membership Roster & Resource Guide.
- Eligibility for the Institute's Licensee program.

Associate Membership
Associate
Membership is available to individuals, companies or associations primarily
engaged in the supplying of goods and services to Active and Interim
Members.
Associate Members are entitled to:
- Serve as Directors of the Woodwork Institute.
- Display the Woodwork Institute logo.
- Receive the benefits of and participate in all current and possible future services of the Institute, such as technical field service, comparative operating studies and statistics, information bulletins, meetings, publications, general promotion, and similar activities.
- Receive the Institute's publications, including: Archetype (the Institute's twice-yearly journal), Details (the membership newsletter), The Business Owner, and the annual Membership Roster & Resource Guide.

M3 Membership
Master
of Millwork Management. Individuals wishing to affirm their
superior knowledge of the industry, shop drawings, WI policies and programs, The WI Approach, the Architectural Woodwork Standards, and
show their commitment to enhancing and sharing their overall industry
expertise may apply for M3 Membership.
M3 members have the ability to act as an authorized signatory representative for any employer licensed under the Institute’s Certified Compliance Program. In addition, M3 members receive special recognition and separate membership listing on the Institute's website and in the Membership Roster & Resource Guide. M3 members also are entitled to display the Woodwork Institute M3 logo.
M3 members are entitled to:

Listed as a M3 in Archetype, Details, Membership Roster & Resource Guide, and our website.
- Promotion at our architectural seminars.
- Receipt of an annual Certificate of Achievement.
- Receipt of an annual wallet identification card.
- Receipt of a special lapel pin.
- Receipt of a special clothing patch.
- Use of the M3 logo on stationery, business cards, clothing, etc.
- Ability to act as authorized signatory representative for any employer licensed under the Institute’s Certified Compliance Program.
- Current copies of the Architectural Woodwork Standards, both printed and CD-ROM.
- Receipt of the institute's publications, including: Archetype (the architectural journal), Details, The Business Owner, and the annual Membership Roster & Resource Guide.
- Access to all other membership benefits other than our Certified Compliance Licensing/Inspection Service and the regular Active/Associate membership or service listing in the Institute's semi-annual Roster/Resource Guide.

Affiliate Contractor
Available to those companies or individuals that hold a General Contractors License.
Entitled to: serve as an Affiliate Contractor Member representative for the Board of Directors, display the Institute's logo qualified by the designation "Contractor", and to access all other Institute Membership benefits other than the Certified and/or Monitored Compliance Licensing/Inspection Service and the regular Active/Associate membership or service listing in the Institute's Roster and Resource Guide.
Dues are paid annually, in advance.

Licensee Status
Firms desiring to become Licensees shall have a minimum of three years of experience in the architectural millwork industry, provide at least six letters of recommendation (two of which are from members of the design community), agree to and sign the Institute's 'Code of Ethics', and have at least one employee pass a written examination on the Architectural Woodwork Standards. Additionally, applicants shall provide at least three projects for inspection applicable to the type of license(s) for which they are applying and when inspected they shall meet or exceed WI Custom Grade. Members are entitled to a 25% discount on Licensee application and/or renewal fees, and WI Inspection/Certification services. Licensees are entitled to a 35% discount on WI Inspection/Certification services; however if they are also a WI Member the discount is increased to 50%.
The Woodwork Institute offers the following license types:
- Type A - For all millwork products, excluding casework and countertops
- Type A-D - For wood doors only
- Type B - For casework
- Type C- For flat and/or formed plastic laminate countertops
- Type C* - For flat (only) plastic laminate countertops
- Type DS - For solid surface countertops
- Type DL - For solid phenolic, epoxy resin, and natural/manufactured stone countertops
- Type A-E - For installation of all millwork products, excluding casework and countertops
- Type A-D-E - For installation of wood doors only
- Type B-E - For installation of casework
- Type C-E - For installation of laminated plastic countertops
- Type DS-E - For installation of solid surface countertops
- Type DL-E - For installation of solid phenolic, epoxy resin, and natural/manufactured stone countertops
These license types require a permanent business establishment with adequate machinery to be engaged in the manufacturing/fabrication of product (firms outside of Arizona, California, Nevada and Oregon must pay all of the Institute’s additional costs of verifying such).
These license types require proof of fabrication and/or installation certification from a solid surface manufacturer.
