Architectural Woodwork Standards
Since 1953, the Woodwork Institute has published eleven editions of its Manual of Millwork; however, in September 2007, the Woodwork Institute entered into a historical agreement with the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), and the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC), forming a Joint Standards Committee (JSC). Established as a separate entity, the JSC was empowered to create, maintain, update, and clarify as needed, a single architectural woodwork standard.

The WI Approach
Our exclusive supplemental text was created to advise previous users of the MM, of any changes or differences they should be aware of. Because of the joint publication, information regarding Woodwork Institute's policies and procedues, membership, and certfication programs can also be found here.

Manual of Millwork
The Institute published its first Manual of Millwork in 1953, distributing it to the architectural, design, and specification writing communities free of charge. The Manual of Millwork established the industry standards for the materials, construction and fabrication techniques, installation, and finishing of architectural millwork. Throughout the years the Institute has refined and upgraded the Manual of Millwork, leading to the current 2003 Edition. Provided free of cost to all design professionals and specification writers within the Institute's Service area.

Casework Design Series
The illustrations in the Casework Design Series were adopted as design standards and provided to assist architects, design professionals, and casework users in selecting typical designs. These illustrations are not intended to limit or restrict creativity, or be all inclusive.

Archetype
