Ralph B. McClure Craftsmanship Award
The Woodwork Institute’s Ralph B. McClure Craftsmanship Award honors a Woodwork Institute Affiliate for its exceptional craftsmanship and/or installation of architectural millwork.
Winning entries will be:
- Shared with the Woodwork Institute’s more than 7,000 email subscribers.
- Displayed on a custom wrapped gallery canvas print that will be sent to the fabricator, architect, and general contractor.
- Featured on the Woodwork Institute website.
- Highlighted in the Woodwork Institute’s social media channels.
- Waived affiliation dues for one Accredited Millwork Company per award for 2026.
How to Enter
Submittal may be made by any woodworking firm or employee that was contractually tied to the project; however, the project must have been certified through the Woodwork Institute’s Certified Compliance Program or Monitored Compliance program. The application must be filled out completely, signed by a representative of the recipient company, accompanied by six digital high-resolution (300 dpi) color prints of the project. At least one image should be 300 dpi at 30 inches wide and 20 inches tall.
Award-winning entries become the property of the Woodwork Institute for unrestricted use.
Applications can be submitted year-round and must be received by August 1, 2025, to be considered for the 2025 awards.

The Woodwork Institute’s Ralph B. McClure Craftsmanship Award honors a Woodwork Institute Affiliate for its exceptional craftsmanship and/or installation of architectural millwork.
On this project, judges were impressed by:
- The uniform wood veneer color and graining on the entire scope of the project
- The well-executed integration of multiple materials
- The sense of harmony created by a nicely specified project
- The exceptional seismic compliance

In 2003, the awards program eliminated the separate awards classifications, instead recognizing three finalists each year and choosing the top project as the award recipient. Previous awards were divided into categories based on the type of millwork that the project featured.
