Two industry veterans join the Woodwork Institute Board of Directors

The Woodwork Institute welcomes two new members to its 2026 Board of Directors.

Sherry Harbaugh, FCSI, CCS, AIA, SCIP has been an independent specifier since 1994, starting her career in Sacramento, and working with clients across the US on a wide variety of project types. She works with designers and manufacturers, enjoys collaborating with teams on all levels, and shares her knowledge of construction specifications. Sherry enjoys free time with family and friends, baking, golfing, and globetrotting. 

Brian Proteau is president at Arntz Builder’s Inc., a public works general contractor constructing essential service facilities, schools, TK-12 and higher learning facilities.

Brian began his career in construction with his high school ROP Program in 1975 as a union mill cabinet apprentice, then transitioned to general carpentry, building custom homes. In 1981 he began his career at Arntz Builders, where he worked his way up from carpenter, carpenter foreman, superintendent, project manager, senior PM then in 2009 was named president.

Brian is no stranger to volunteering his time for non-profit organizations, he will be starting his third term on WI board and his 6th term as a publicly elected director at Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District in Petaluma, CA.  

On his off hours he enjoys working on his olive farm, spending time with his family, traveling with his wife Diane and playing golf.

Sherry and Brian join the rest of the Woodwork Institute Board of Directors in using their industry knowledge and business acumen to help plan the future of the organization and the field of architectural millwork.
